BizBloqs × Kardex

THE LIFT FOLLOWS THE WMS, NOT A SECOND STOCK LIST

A vertical lift module is fast at presenting a tray, but it often keeps its own stock list next to the ERP and the WMS.

BizBloqs drives Kardex Control Center or Power Pick System directly: storage, pick and count tasks per compartment, with stock booked the moment the operator confirms.

IS THIS YOU?

Who this Kardex integration is for

Kardex knows what you own. It does not know where it is, who picked it, or whether the count was right.

  • You run Kardex as your system of record and have no intention of replacing it.
  • Your warehouse still works from paper lists, Excel or the stock screen inside the ERP.
  • You ship to customers, webshops or marketplaces and need orders, stock and confirmations to stay in step all day.

This is what your Kardex setup looks like from day one

See it on your own order flow. Thirty minutes, screen share, no slide deck — or tell us where it hurts today and we will tell you honestly whether we can fix it.

Storage automation integration

How the Kardex integration works

Kardex vertical lift modules, vertical carousels and shuttle systems bring goods to the operator instead of walking the operator to the goods. BizBloqs does not replace the Kardex controller: it drives it. The WMS decides what must be stored or picked and in which sequence, hands the task to Kardex Control Center or Power Pick System, and books stock only once the machine confirms what physically moved.

Kardex — via Kardex Control Center / Power Pick System

Task exchange with the Kardex controller software over its documented host interface

The connection runs against the Kardex controller software, not against the hardware directly, so it works the same way for a Shuttle XP, a Megamat RS or a Horizontal Carousel as long as they sit behind the same controller. BizBloqs sends storage and pick tasks with item, quantity, priority and — where the article requires it — the batch, serial or expiry that must be registered. Kardex presents the tray or the carrier, the operator confirms, and the confirmation carries back the compartment actually used and the quantity actually handled, including short picks. Because the compartment structure is mirrored in BizBloqs, stock inside the machine stays addressable and countable from the WMS rather than being one aggregated number.

What you need

  • Kardex Control Center or Power Pick System in a version that exposes the host interface
  • The host / WMS interface option licensed by Kardex for your installation
  • Network access from the BizBloqs environment to the controller PC
  • An agreed compartment addressing scheme (machine, tray, compartment)
  • A named contact at Kardex or your Kardex service partner for the interface

Which messages are exchanged

Task-driven and immediate. BizBloqs owns the order, the stock position and the priority; Kardex executes the physical movement and confirms what actually happened.

Which of these are available depends on the controller product and the interface options licensed for your installation. Batch, serial and expiry registration is only meaningful where the article itself is under traceability in BizBloqs.

This is our standard integration. An empty field means that message is not exchanged in that direction by default. Integrations can be modified or extended customer-specific through workflows.

How we roll it out

  1. 1. Site survey

We map the Kardex equipment on your floor: models, controller software version, firmware and which interface options are actually licensed. This is where surprises normally live.

  2. 2. Interface agreement

We agree the exchange format and transport with the vendor or your service partner, and who owns which side of the connection after go-live.

  3. 3. Location model

The machine's internal storage structure is mirrored in BizBloqs so stock is addressable per tray, shelf, compartment or lane instead of hidden inside a black box.

  4. 4. Test cycle

Store, pick, partial pick, short pick, count and correction are all run on real equipment, including the failure paths: machine offline, tray blocked, operator overrides the quantity.

  5. 5. Go-live

We go live with your team on the floor and monitor task queues for the first days. A task that fails is visible and replayable — it is never silently dropped.

Does your process fit this message set?

This is our standard Kardex integration. If you need messages that are not in the table, send us your list — we tailor integrations per customer through workflows and will tell you upfront what is standard and what is custom.

Integration FAQ

Does BizBloqs replace Kardex Control Center?

No. The Kardex controller keeps driving the machine — that is its job and it is certified for it. BizBloqs sits above it and decides what should move, in which order and for which customer order.

Can we keep picking multiple orders from one tray presentation?

Yes. BizBloqs batches lines that live in the same machine and, where the controller supports it, in the same tray, so one presentation serves several orders instead of one line at a time.

Do we get batch and serial traceability inside the machine?

Yes, where the article is under traceability in BizBloqs. The task carries what has to be registered and the confirmation carries back what was actually registered, so the movement — not just the day's total — is traceable.

Who owns stock: BizBloqs or Kardex?

BizBloqs. The machine knows what is physically in a tray or a lane; BizBloqs holds the stock position for the whole warehouse, including everything stored outside the automation, and reconciles the two on every confirmed movement.

What happens if the equipment is offline?

Work continues. Tasks stay queued in BizBloqs and orders that can be served from conventional locations keep flowing; the queue drains once the equipment is back. Nothing is confirmed that did not physically happen.

Do we have to replace our existing equipment?

No. The integration is built against the controller software you already run. We only ask for the interface option to be licensed and the version to be current enough to support it.

Can this run alongside conventional shelving?

Yes, and most sites do. BizBloqs treats the automation as one storage type among several and routes each line to whichever location makes the pick fastest.

Is this a partnership or an integration?

Kardex is an integration, not a commercial partnership. We connect to the equipment on behalf of a shared customer; there is no reseller or referral relationship implied.

In addition to a scan procedure with EDI integration, BizBloqs has set up an entire production system for us. Production planning can provide direct instructions and as soon as they are ready, it all arrives in the OMS. This gives us a larger production capacity and a drastic reduction of the picking mistakes in dispatching.
